Hazel Blomkamp is the author or co-author of 12 books. Most of her books are published by Search Press in the United Kingdom and have been translated into several languages.
She has designed, written about, judged and taught hand embroidery and beadwork for more than thirty years and is best known for her unconventional approach to embroidery and Crewel Embroidery in particular. She is a regular contributor to Inspirations Magazine based in Australia and has contributed to other publications in South Africa and the UK.
She has taught embroidery and beadwork in her home country as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Ukraine, France, England, Canada, the United States of America and Zimbabwe. She judges needlework shows in Zimbabwe on a regular basis.
Since 2020 she has taught online workshops and masterclasses for guilds and seminars globally, providing both pre-recorded and live tuition.
With endless and cheerful assistance from Zandile Zulu, they run a busy website from her home in South Africa, sending embroidery kits and products to all parts of the world.
Their three colleagues, Monica, Donald and Marjorie make up the armed response team that provide security and alerts when the courier van arrives to pick up your parcels.
